Choosing the Right Contractor is Critical

Did you know that the Better Business Bureau reports that contractors are the most complained about industry, even ahead of auto repair businesses? Just about anyone with a hammer and a pickup truck can call himself a contractor, but Morrell Construction believes that our clients want and deserve to work only with contractors who are experienced, ethical, and will deliver on their promises.

While there are many reputable contractors, there are also many who are inexperienced and unethical. It can be difficult for homeowners to differentiate between a good contractor from a bad contractor, because they do not know what to look for. Over the years we have seen friends and neighbors waste thousands of dollars and valuable time on contractors who were unqualified and even dishonest.

Learn How to Choose the Right Contractor

To help our clients choose a qualified contractor, Morrell Construction has developed a list of criteria and standards for contractors. Our “Code of Ethics and Competency Standards Guide” contains valuable information for anyone considering a remodeling or construction project, whether commercial or residential. We urge you to read this guide before you engage any contractor to work for you.

Our Process

Morrell Construction believes that clear and consistent communication is the key to a successful remodeling or building project. Our customer satisfaction process ensures that there are no unpleasant surprises and that we continue to meet your expectations from start to finish.

1. Initial Contact
When you call us, a member of your team will discuss your proposed project in detail and arrange for an initial in-person meeting.

2. Initial Meeting
We encourage all of the decision makers to attend the initial meeting so that we can learn about your needs and expectations in detail. The purpose of this meeting is to learn what you want to accomplish, tell you about our experience and qualifications, and determine if you would like to work with us.

3. Design Stage
During the design stage, we gather detailed information about the project and discuss all of your design selections and components of the project. We then present a complete proposal for your approval. Once the proposal is accepted, a contract is signed and we can begin work on your project.

4. Pre-Construction or Pre-Project Meeting
The production manager will meet with you at your home or office about one week before construction begins. This is our opportunity to discuss the ‘next steps’, project schedule, and set expectations.

5. Construction/Remodeling Stage
This is when all of the planning and design comes to fruition! At this stage our subcontractors will be at your home or site to complete all of the required work. Our crews are courteous and professional and leave job site as clean and safe as possible after each day of work. Our managers will be in touch with you frequently to keep you up-to-date about the schedule and answer all of your questions.

6. Completion Walk-Through
We always do a walk-through with you once we near completion of the project. At this stage, we work with you to create a final Punch List of items that need to be completed.

7. Project Completion
Your Punch List is completed by our crew, and you can see the final results of your remodeling or construction project. Now it is time to relax and enjoy your accomplishment!

8. Exit Interview
We greatly appreciate your business and want to know how we did. Michael Morrell will schedule a meeting with you to discuss your project and how we can serve you in the future.
